Ruth Rennie

My mission is to bridge the Action Gap between Sustainability Strategies and Reporting and real implementation of sustainable practices across supply chains with a positive impact on people and planet.

For more than twenty years I've worked in more than 30 countries across the globe, driving collaboration and building partnerships between companies, governments, NGOs and local communities designing and implementing processes to create that impact. I led the development and implementation of the world's largest sustainable agriculture certification at the Rainforest Alliance reaching 2 million farmers and 5000 companies driving sustainable practices across the supply chain. I have also supported some the worlds largest multinationals on embedding sustainability into core business functions with the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).

I have seen first-hand both the enormous risks to the environment and communities of global supply chains, and the power of those same supply chains to protect nature and lift poor producers out of poverty. I have also seen the damage to business continuity, enterprise value and reputation that can occur when companies lack adequate oversight of their supply chains, and fail to engage with suppliers to address the issues. And I understand the barriers companies face to deliver on their climate, nature and social commitments and translate their sustainability strategies into action.

I work with companies to turn their sustainability data, reporting and regulatory compliance into management information to drive action and investment to deliver their sustainability commitments. I focus on deepening collaboration with suppliers to co-develop actions that build resilient supply chains, maximize positive impact and support credible sustainability claims.
